Sophie & Victoria — An Intimate Inner-West Brewery Wedding in Sydney

BY

Some weddings are loud in their intention.
Others are quietly confident.

Sophie and Victoria’s wedding sat firmly in the second category — relaxed, emotional, and deeply personal, without ever trying too hard.

I first met these two at Sophie’s sister’s wedding, so when they reached out about photographing their own day, it already felt familiar. That ease carried through everything that followed.

They got ready together at the The Old Clare Hotel, surrounded by their sisters, Claudia and Gabriella. There was laughter, nerves, and that slow, deliberate pacing that happens when a moment really matters. When it came time to get dressed, they separated — Sophie (very intentionally) taking her time, while Victoria waited downstairs, nerves building.

Their first look happened in the foyer.
Quiet. Emotional. Just the two of them.

Victoria wore a sharp Rebecca Vallance suit. Sophie wore a Made With Love gown. When they saw each other, everything softened. Tears. Deep breaths. A pause to take it all in before the day swept them along.

The ceremony took place downstairs at Willie the Boatman Brewery — tucked away behind the vats and brickwork, reached by walking straight through the working brewery. The light down there was perfect. Soft, directional, flattering in the best possible way.

Family filled the front row, reactions unfolding in real time — proud, teary, completely present. It was intimate in the truest sense. No performance. Just love.

The rest of the day unfolded exactly how it should have. Wandering portraits around the neighbourhood. Long conversations. Cocktails in hand. No rush. No pressure. Just space to enjoy being together.

Dinner came courtesy of a South American food truck — open flames, slow-cooked meats, big flavours. Hearty, generous, and deeply satisfying. It matched the energy of the day perfectly.

Speeches were heartfelt and honest, set up beautifully by their MC, Mikel, who knew exactly how to read the room. And once the formalities were done, the dance floor took over.

Victoria’s South American roots made themselves known here — joy, rhythm, movement, and a room full of people who absolutely knew how to celebrate. Shoes came off. The night blurred in the best way.

Sophie and Victoria’s wedding wasn’t about spectacle.
It was about connection.
And that’s always the most beautiful thing to photograph.
